01A platform for cities’ cultural scenes

New audiences and new funding for the city’s cultural scene.

How we help cities

Scener.se combines a business model, a digital platform and local, hands-on work to engage businesses and residents as new audiences and co-funders of the city’s cultural life.

For municipalities, regions, tourism boards, organiser groups and media.

02The opportunity

A large audience is waiting to be reached.

The city’s stages have a larger audience than the one that finds its way there today. Event information exists, but it is fragmented and mainly reaches people who are already looking for cultural events. Most people are not, and no channel reaches them effectively today.

57 %

of Swedes do not attend cultural events.

50 %

of the interested audience regularly miss events they want to attend.

2 in 3

do not actively look for upcoming events.

No channel is the first choice at local level. There is no obvious source that the audience has a strong relationship with.

03How the platform works

We bring together audiences, stages and funding.

Scener.se gathers the city’s cultural events, curates the content editorially and creates a new layer of reach for spontaneous discovery. The service strengthens existing organisations’ business and complements their work without competing with them.

We cover music, dance, theatre, musicals, stand-up and other live events.

3.1

New everyday reach

Scener.se creates new spaces for spontaneous discovery – at home, at work, in public spaces and around the city. We work where other players are not already visible.

3.2

Build a relationship with a returning audience

The content is curated by a central and a local editorial team instead of being published straight from an events database. That gives a selection with context and credibility. Features for reserved seats, invitations and editorial newsletters turn interest into repeat visits.

The editorial tool. One selection, every channel.

3.3

Broaden local funding

Businesses and residents contribute as micro-sponsors with small, recurring amounts that complement existing sponsorship and strengthen local cultural life. Scener.se lets businesses be seen through their stories and gives them tools to strengthen relationships with employees, customers and suppliers, with the city’s cultural life as an attractive setting.

3.4

Insights

The platform gives the city a complete picture of demand, behaviour and cultural gaps – by district, category and time. It gives the municipality, the cultural sector and local business a shared basis for coordinating efforts, developing what’s on offer and prioritising resources. The insights can contribute to higher participation, better use of resources and more equal access to culture across the city.

The analytics view supports planning and optimisation. Data and districts are examples.

04Value for the city

A local fund for the city’s cultural life.

Scener.se creates new revenue streams that build up a local culture fund, financed by businesses and residents. The fund is managed by the local project group, which allocates the money to grants, awards and support for local cultural projects.

05A set-up for your city

A platform built around your needs.

Use the platform under the Scener.se brand or your own. Combine the parts you need for content, editorial work, distribution, audience engagement and business partnerships.

The ecosystem

A local ecosystem for the performing arts.

Organisers, creators, residents and businesses contribute content and support. The platform curates and adapts, and the channels take it out into the city. New direct funding and insights flow back to the city.

06Pilot project, autumn 2027

Help shape Scener.se from the start.

In autumn 2027 Scener.se launches in selected Swedish cities, together with municipalities, tourism boards, organisers and local businesses. We are now talking to cities that want to take part.

07Questions and answers

What people usually ask us.

Which events are included?

Music, theatre, dance, musicals, stand-up and other live performance in front of an audience.

Does Scener.se only work for cities?

No. Scener.se can be used by municipalities, regions and other places – from a small town to a whole region with several municipalities. The set-up is adapted to the size of the place and the organisations already there.

What does it cost for organisers?

Organisers can take part and publish their content free of charge.

Where does the audience buy tickets?

From the organiser, through their existing ticketing system.

How is Scener.se funded?

Development and operation of the platform, as well as the central and local work, are funded through licence fees and a commission on the revenue the platform generates. Most of the revenue generated goes to local cultural life.

Does Scener.se compete with existing channels?

No. Scener.se complements the organisations already in the city and appears where event information rarely reaches today.
